BOOKPACKING NEW YORK
New York City is a Bookpacker’s treasure trove. Each corner of the city overflows with classic and contemporary texts.
BOOKPACKING NEW YORK is a month-long Maymester offering students the opportunity to explore New York through a dynamic selection of novels, from classics like ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ to more contemporary texts like Teju Cole’s ‘Open City’ and Gish Jen’s ‘Typical American’.
One novel in particular will sit at the heart of the experience: Colum McCann’s ‘Let the Great World Spin’, a vivid and compassionate tale of New Yorkers in isolation and connection. We will trace the varied settings of McCann’s multi-faceted story, from the plush apartments of Park Lane to the projects of the Bronx, seeking out the heartbeat of this extraordinary city.
BOOKPACKING NEW YORK is a new class, set to launch in May / June 2027.
