Mary Ahn is an undergraduate student studying Journalism and Urban Planning at the University of Southern California. She works as a multimedia journalist at the Annenberg Media Center and stereotypically, loves reading, writing and most importantly, storytelling. Inspired from her own background as a first-generation Korean American, she views her writing as a method to tell the stories of the suppressed and misunderstood.
Mary, born in Queens and raised both in Manhattan, New York and North New Jersey, considers herself a native New Yorker through and through. She loves to consider herself the personification of all the complexities of the city that never sleeps — loud, restless, blunt and bull headed, yet, delusionally romantic, childish, self assured, and at times, inappropriate.
She loves drawing, painting, playing the piano, playing volleyball and exploring nature. She also loves discovering the hidden corners of her city, eating with friends and family and, most of all, lying down and doing nothing.
